Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q
The number of truly great barbecue restaurants in Georgia has us feeling like this state is ground zero for smoked meats, maybe more so than anywhere other. Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q in Atlanta is the latest in a growing list of terrific barbecue joints that we've been lucky enough to experience. And it wasn't even our first choice on this particular evening...we were slated to go to Heirloom Market, but they had closed due to the rare winter storm here, so we detoured to Fox Bros. and had a great meal.
This restaurant is a big, open and rather noisy space, with the concrete floors and no frills seating offset by interesting art work. We were led to a seat by the large front windows and perused the menu, which struck us both as practical and well written...we like a barbecue menu that's concise, but that gives folks lots of freedom as to how they want to combine their smoked meat and side choices. This one is perfect. We went with the three meat/two side option, and chose pulled pork, ribs and chicken wings with collard greens and baked beans. Now, chicken wings are more modern, as opposed to traditional, barbecue fare, but Mim had a hankering.
